About the Creator

Hi, I'm Cathy!
Â
If you've ever felt misunderstood or isolated during a mental health crisis, I might have a pretty good idea of what that feels like. I've struggled with my own mental health for most of my adult life, and the game, I Got You™ was born during one of my recent, darker moments.

Through my own experiences, I've realized how much we crave genuine empathy - and how much it hurts when it’s missing. I wanted to build a bridge, so I set out to create something out of the ordinary that could foster real, meaningful conversations and remind people that they aren't alone in their dark moments.

When the inspiration hit, my ADHD brain took over and within a week, I had channeled that energy into a complete blueprint and working prototype. Building this game has been a whirlwind of excited anxiety; fueled by the support of my family and friends, I Got You™ snowballed into what it is today!  For anyone who needs to feel heard, I hope playing my game brings you as much comfort as creating it brought me."

Keep going, even when you think you can't!

During a period of deep depression—and while dealing with people who were less than empathetic—I created this mental health word search. It was my hope to give others a simple activity full of words showing kindness and caring, while at the same time identifying phrases that never, in the history of depression, have helped anyone.
Humble Beginnings

A few days later, I realized I hadn't even completed my own word search, so during my lunch break, I sat down to proofread it. About ten words in, it hit me —what if I expanded this? What if I made a full board game?!  I immediately flipped the page over to write down my ideas while fresh in my mind! The notes you see here were born from that lightbulb moment.

The game continues to
evolve and grow!
